Recently I have been less than productive as it relates to posting new articles to the front page of our website.  It seems I come up with an idea, and then lose the train of thought before I can write the article.  So I thought I’d just give you all an article of the residue from those incomplete thoughts.  I hope you enjoy it. ~ Steve

Symantec estimates there are 19,200 malware attacks every day, worldwide.  According to NationMaster.com there were 63.5 million violent crimes committed worldwide in 2009.  That works out to 174,000 per day.  Seems the cyber crooks just aren’t as proficient as the rest of the bad guys.

Using tobacco is illegal in almost all public places these days, but you can buy cigarettes on almost every corner in every county in the United States.  I think that says a lot about the politicians who made those laws.

Intel’s newest series is the i3, which delivers performance off the cutting edge of the i5 and i7 chips, but above the so called “value” chips.  According to PassMark, the CPU rating agency, the i3 550 which retails at $222 outperforms the i5 670 which retails at $453.

I recently visited a big box store and found notebook computers were powered by no less than 16 different processors.  Now I’m not counting different speeds, I’m talking about different model names.  Each one being unique in its features, including several that were just plain obsolete.  Is it any wonder people get confused when they read specifications?

There is a Federally funded program called USAID that is running a $36 million program to train individuals in Southeast Asia (including Srio Lanka) to give tech support, in English. Next time you call for tech support and and speak to a foriegn country, feel good to know that your tax dollars helped ship that job overseas.
