Terminology
I have people ask me all the time about the difference between Notebooks, Laptops and Netbooks. The correct term is Notebook; a Laptop is basically slang for the exact same thing. A Netbook is part of the new family of ultra small inexpensive Notebooks that have lower power and fewer features. I hope this helps.Used systems available
People often ask us if we have any used systems available, especially used notebooks or laptops. Well, right now we have a few available. We have two used Dell notebooks running Windows XP at $199, as well as a strong Toshiba Core 2 Duo (dual core 1.66GHz) system for $449. All of our used notebooks include wireless built in.
We also have a Gateway "Scratch and Dent" special. This Gateway has a strong (dual core 1.83GHz) Core 2 Duo processor, 320GB hard drive, 3GB of RAM and an HDMI output. The body was abused by a previous owner so it is below our usual cosmetic standards, but it is functional in every way. This gem is selling for $299, easily $200 below market price.
We also have a used Dell Studio desktop for $449 that comes with a Core 2 Duo (dual core 2.8GHz) processor, 500 GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Home Premium installed. We don't get too many used systems with such good specs so if you need another computer, and you need to watch your budget, now is the time to move!
We have gone through these machines and made any necessary repairs, they have fresh installs of Windows and are ready to go to work!
Call Steve or Jim if you have questions about these used units.
We have instigated a couple of new programs:
Why give the bank all that money?
Save me all the fees by paying with "Good Ol' Fashion Folding Money" and I will save you 5% off of any invoice. In other words pay cash, and save me the processing fees that come with Credit/Debit cards and checks, and I will discount your invoice by 5% on the spot. This will also save you on the cost of sales tax, because sales tax is figured after the discount!
Love it or exchange it
If you buy a computer from us and find it is too small, too slow, not the right color, or for any reason you don't love it, bring it in and exchange it for any other model of equal or greater value. New or used, no exceptions, we will give you 100% of your original purchase price towards the upgrade. And there is no rush because you have 90 days to decide you want to make a change.
Same day service,
We are still giving same day service at this time. So now is a great time to get that maintenance done you've been postponing. Call Mike at 317-733-0213 to schedule an appointment, or just stop in!
Recycling Day
I saw a sign advertising Recycling Day for computers in Westfield recently. It's recycling day every day at The Village Geek! Bring your old equipment in to Jim and let us see that it is disposed of properly and responsibly.
As always, please call us for any question or concern 317-733-0213.

Steve Weigle and the staff at Village Geek Computers
