Microsoft announces release date for Windows 7
Microsoft has announced October 22nd as the GA (General Availability) release date for Windows 7. They have not specified the RTM (Release To Manufacture) date, but according to the Windows Blog, it is expected Mid July. That's when we should be able to order it. Microsoft has also confirmed there will be a Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program for people buying new PC's near the release date. They haven't told me if I will be able to particpate yet.
Cnet reports "Microsoft has said that Windows 7 will come in five different editions in most markets--Starter, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate. A "Windows 7 Basic" will also be sold in emerging markets, Microsoft said."
All the tech sites are buzzing about this new release. All my techs like it too. Perhaps we are leaving the dark ages after all.
Apple has decided to release OS X Snow Leopard as a $39 upgrade.
Most watchers believe it is in response to Microsofts release of Windows 7. According to several sites Apple sees Windows 7 as a threat to the gains they made because of Vista's bad name.
Excuse our dust
But we are remodeling the old shipping room (original site of our showroom) into a display room for new and used computers. We are also revamping our website and expect to launch the new site by the end of the month. We hope to be finished with both projects in June.
