That's because 90% of our boxes, and fill materials are recycled. The few boxes we
do buy are made using recycled corrugated materials.
The Village Geek also recycles computer parts. The older used computers
that we take on trade are given to local charities if they are usable, and are
disassembled and distributed to repair people if they are not longer viable. Dead
boards and cases are sent to a company that recycles the metals in the parts.
At The Village Geek, we believe that less than 1% of our parts, and shipping materials
end up in land fills.
We can help you to recycle too! Local residents are encouraged to bring
in your excess Styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, and "void fill" materials
for recycling. Old computers that are no longer useful to you may be dropped off at
our shop to be recycled properly. Customers that receive packaging materials may
return those materials to us. (NOTE: You must contact us for authorization to
ship anything to us.)
We also try to eliminate waste materials. If you ask for a catalogue, you will be
directed to this webpage! Our written price list is one page printed on both sides.
RMA forms, invoices and other paperwork are all stored digitally using paper only
when hard copies are needed.
Let's keep our world a little cleaner for our kids. Join The Village Geek and
recycle your packaging materials and computer parts. Recycle, reduce, and reuse! |
