We Recycle!
The Village Geek recycles computer parts and shipping materials. The older used computers that we take on trade are repaired and given to local charities or resold if they are usable, and they are disassembled and distributed to repair people if they are not longer viable. Dead and obsolete boards and cases are sent to a company that recycles the metals in the parts. We chose our recycling center based on two conditions, hard drives are shredded, and no parts are recycled overseas.
At The Village Geek, we believe that less than 1% of our parts, and shipping materials end up in land fills.
We can help you to recycle too! Local residents are encouraged to bring in your excess Styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, and "void fill" materials for recycling. If you need styrofoam or other packing materials check with us first, we don't charge for them (if we have enough).
Old computers that are no longer useful to you may be dropped off at our shop to be recycled properly. Please note that due to the toxic chemicals in CRT monitors, we must charge $15 to recycle those items.
Let's keep our world a little cleaner for our kids. Join The Village Geek and recycle your packaging materials and computer parts. Recycle, reduce, and reuse!
